It's August, which means it's Rhaegars birthday!  He gets a whole month because he is a God damned Prince (and not because I dont know his actual birthday).  I've been negotiating with the Prime Minister on making it a national holiday but that treasonous bastard won't give people a month off.  I'll have his head.

So, prezzies.  His heat bulbs keep blowing every 2 weeks (they're supposed to last at least a month!) so I had went to the pet shop to get a new one (and maybe get a new fitting).  The pet shop I'm talking about it Neon Gecko in Glasgow, I make mention of this because my local pet shop is shite.  I know this, but I didnt know they were so shite that when I went for a UV bulb (you know, the one thats helps him GROW) they'd give me one thats weak and useless for such a creature.  They gave me a 2.5 strength, Neon Gecko informed me I needed a 10.0 strength.  I know they werent bullshitting me because all I asked for was a UV bulb for my Beardie, to which he replied "Nah mate we've not got any 10.0 coil bulbs left.".  Since Rhaegar would have me sent to the dungeon for not providing him with the greatest of all bulbs I decided to take the wallet hit and buy my heat bulb, my UV TUBE 10.0 bulb and the tube fitting for the tank.  Nearly £60 he cost me, here's hoping it makes a difference.

If all goes to plan I want to move in on the 29th of August (still dont actually have it yet, waiting on getting word from my mate) and I'm curious to see how much he's grown as I see him everyday, whereas you bastards haven't seen him in about a year!

Any of you bitches looking to move out?  It'd be with me and my mate Gordon (sound guy).  The flat is in Cessnock, you'd be looking at 2 smallish rooms to yourself (about the size of the spare room in Chris's flat, the one Bry stayed in) at around £200 a month including council tax.  30 minute walk to Glagow Central train station, 20 minutes to Nicks, 5 minutes to Chris's.  We're looking to move out as soon as possible, but your moving time could be negotiated.  Drop me a line if your up for it!

Well my birthday is tomorrow and Nick (hopefully with the approval of Kim and Tom) has said it's cool to have a little gathering at his place this Satarday night to talk about how old I'm getting.  I managed to see a fair few of you bastards the other day and I understand it's short notice, but if you can make it pop along!  Naturally I'll be doing stuff over the next few days so I wont be going invite crazy, however you guys know me and know who would be invited so spread the word.  I'll be finishing work at 6:30 and will be over at the flat by 7 but feel free to turn up whenever (with Nick/Kim/Toms concent of course).  No need for gifts or anything, just bring your sexiness.  And have it gift wrapped.

I know I rabbit on about how much Uni work I'm doing, but lets just put it this way.  I have only played 6 hours of SFIV and haven't even bothered buying Resident Evil 5.  It's an all day everyday job until D-Day and for the most part I'm enjoying it, but that's because I haven't touched any paperwork yet.

AYA
I dunno, I feel like I'm going to Aya because I'm going to Aya.  I still watch a lot of anime and it'll be great to see everyone and all that, but as far as purposeful cons go the 'anime community' seems more weeboo based than anything else.  And if I'm not going for the whole 'convention' aspect then it's a lot of money to spend just to surround myself with faggots who "love Death Note and Kingdom Hearts!".  Doesn't help that I'd kill to go to San Diego Comic-Con this year.

COMICS
I think I've finally found my artistic muse.  For a single artist they truly are the greatest platform to tell a visual story (plus it's really fun to write).  Although it's probably even harder to break into the comic industry than it is the gaming industry I want to be the idea guy, not just another cog in the machine.  So after Uni it'll be online comic time, convention attending, portfolio building and publisher nagging.

MONEY
Once my loan runs out I'm FUCKED.  I'm only on a bloody 4 hour contract and even though I get the odd extra shift it sure as hell aint enough to sustain me.  The annoying thing is I do not have the time to get another job just now as I have so much work to get done, however come May-ish I'll have to go hunting again because this shit just aint good enough.

Sounds like a shite poorly named webcomic but is actually the title for my new goal in life, to post Mon-Fri about the 3D work I did that day, encouraging me to actually do it.  I meant to start yesterday but since I was up until 5am doing 3D stuff then I thought it was cool to put it off.  Now from here onwards I'll throw all the postings under a cut so I don't spam your friends pages with my stuff.

Our provisional grades are in and I got 51.9% for my Virtual Environments class, which comes in at a B2.  That was the higher estimate of what I thought I could have gotten considering the circumstances and what little I handed in (the lower estimate being anything below 40, failing my sorry ass).  I of course failed the Character Animation module that I didn't hand in and the third module of the semester isn't graded as it is a double module that carries on into the next semester.

Now as I stated when all this happened I have no great interest in my grades.  It's the product that I am concerned with as that's all that matters in the industry (as well as work ethic and attitude of course), but that doesn't mean I won't be letting my parents down, at least in the short term, if I completely fuck it up.  So I did some calculations...

To get a 'first' for your BSc Hons then you're looking for an overall 70% pass mark on the entire course.  Now naturally there is almost no hope in hell of this happening anymore but here is where I stand anyway.  As noted, 51.9% for my VE, no matter what grade I get for my animation resit it will only count as a base pass of 40% (due to the failure in the first attempt).  To reach above 70% I would require an average of 82% for the remaining 4 modules.

Special Effects is something I plan on doing well in.  I want to create an Iron Man-like suit in 3D, put myself in it, have particle generated jets on my feet etc.  We only just got the breif but you get the picture, and if previous years 'good' entries are anything to go by I could get a very good grade in this if I can find the time to spend on it.

My main project is obviously the focus of my attention.  A 24 page 3D comic in full print, and if I have the time I may make an interactive flash version.  This project holds the weight of two modules and will be my life for the coming months.

My final module is Animation Production, a group effort with a restricted brief and a harsh lecturer giving me very little room to make my grade up and forcing me to rely on others talents as oppossed to my own.  Not pleased, however I have forced my group to push our idea a little (with me doing the complicated stuff) so that we get can get some good solid work on the go.  The final product may not be anything worth putting on a show reel, all I can do is complete my group task to the best of my ability and see what happens.

So I'm looking at a photo-relastic mecha Simon complete with boosters and what not, some rather complex cloth animation for the group project and a 24 page 3D comic, all in 10 weeks.  Piece of piss.

So I got it handed in....kinda. Shit went wrong again, couldn't render to video, images wouldn't save at the proper HD resolution and I didn't have time for paperwork because I spent so long trying to get the fire and flag effects to render to low quality .avi (which didn't work cause it turns out my Maya is still kinda fucked ¬_¬). I really just don't care any more, if this week has taught me anything it's that my course, in the grand scheme of things, means sweet F-A. It's time to focus on me and what I want to learn and not what shite they want me to do. So anyway, here are some lower quality images. Just for Bry there are picture BELOW THE CUT :P.   I'm glad this is all behind me.
